Hey, I've got an issue with my rheostat. It maxes out to 10 just fine but'll only back off to 5 or so. I've pulled of my tin and checked it out from within but can't see any thing obstructing the contact. It just feels gummy coming from 6 to 5 and then will not move any further. I know I don't NEED to fin tune any lower but it bugging me. Anyone familiar? Any suggestions? Or, any for sale?...inexpensively.
Reply:Nobody huh? I was thinking about cleaning to contact with alcohol or some other solvent. I just don't wanna ruin it. If anyone's got the secret let me know.
Reply:Have you considered spraying it with some non residue leaving electrical contact cleaner available at some computer or general electrical stores ?Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:i apologize if this question should have been another post. i have a ranger 8, similar setup....could you tell me if the rheostat works linearly between 5 and 10 on the difference in the range and the last range. in other words..if im set on the range 125 max with the stat at 10 i should be at 125 amps..there is 35 amps between this and the next lower range..so is the 50% of the rheostat dial between 5 and 10 100% of the 35amps?...so if the stat were at 5 is that 90 amps...? and if the stat is at 8 is that around 110 amps ? or is it more set it and feel it out?thanks |
