another look at my welds thread

Well, had my 180 for over a year and never used it. Thought today was perfect so I tried it out. Now, I'm not sure if these welds are good or bad so that's why I'm posting them up.First, I tried some spot welds. Starting from the left towards the right.Then, I laid some beads. The one one the right was first, then the left and the middle last.I did some more welds on the other side, starting from the top left going to the right.And my improvised cart.I think I did ok overall. Think I need to calm down and slow down a little. I was just so excited. What do ya'll think?Lincoln Promig 180
Reply:kinda looks like ur settings were to hot, lots of spatter a paint scraper knocks that stuff off fairly good(just my opinion)
Reply:I was using innershield on the lowest voltage setting. Maybe using regular wire and gas would be better with this metal?Lincoln Promig 180
Reply:I would use a heavier ext. cord first of all. But other than that like you said calm down get comfortable and go slow.

Reply:Just keep practicing. Ive used innershield on everything from 20 guage to 1/2. Great wire!! Get out there and practice. Not bad for a first time!Ya gotta spend money to make money!

Reply:Those bed frames take a slow start to get good penetration going (heat them up a little) No preheat needed, just start slower on them. Once the weld heats the metal up it goes fine. Slow down a little and wait till you see the puddle.
