Jeep J20 pipe bumper (56k warning)

Well, my friend Isaac and me welded up a pipe bumper for his jeep. we used his uncles craftsman 230 amp welder with E7018, E7014, E6013, E6011 electrodes. 3/8th inch steel plate, a old basket ball hoop post. the post took up a parking space at Isaac house, so I cut off at the base.Last edited by llamafur; 05-24-2009 at 12:46 AM.

Reply:I love my eyes, and will refuse to work without protection. especially a welding hood. I never using that autodarkning hood again, i had a massive headache

Reply:Particle mask will protect you from the abrasive dust, and metal particles comin' offa the grinding wheel.But it won't protect ya from the fumes from the flux on the rod.I weld outside, and most days the wind either blows the fumes away from me, or right back in my faceIf it's comin' back into your hood try to take shallow breaths, or hold your breath if it's really bad.  That sorta depends on the length of the weld  A good long weld, and ya might pass out holdin' your breath too long"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Nice bmper and use of materials. Good job on saftey. Sleeves are a must when welding even a denim shirt is better than nothing. wear ear plugs using those little grinders too, I have a small bit of hearing loss in my left ear from grinding when I first got in the trade, Can hearthe clock tick with right but not the left, can't ever get it back.Brett B & B Fabrication and Welding Inc.Spalding, MI.
