Jack extension

I've been lurking around this forum for a while now and have decided to try to upload a couple of pics.I work at a farm equipment dealership, I'm a licensed Diesel mechanic and self taught fabricator.  When jacking up the front of larger tractors, we always had stacks of wood blocks to reach the front axle.  We had a tractor slide off the blocks one day so I decided to make a short extension, about 12",  I need to make one about half as long for smaller tractors.Tell me what you think.  The extension is made from 1 9/16" solid round and some pipe that slid over top. the bottom plate is 1/2" freehand torch cut.  All welded with a Millermatic 200 set on High, voltage setting 3, wire speed 60. Reply:Looks good. I might have to steal that idea for my new truck. Usually I try to set the blocks under the jack as it reduces the chance of something slipping.

Reply:I did this a long time ago and as long as the load does not roll eveything is fine, However one day my load shifted and with the extra length of the extension acting like a lever it had no trouble at all of bending the trapesium arm/arms that keep the saddle level, the jack shot out at 100mph and luckily nobody was hurt. Reply:Thanks for the feedback.  The jack has about zero chance of kicking out on our shop floor, its about as smooth as a gravel road.  Anyway it has to be safer that a stack of wood blocks, and as farmersamm pointed out it's only for lifting the tractor straight up for stands to be placed underneath.
