any NYC welders here?

Is anyone here a NYC welder with DEP or any other department?  I was told their welding test is the same as AWS (1" plate up and overhead 7018) but that the AWS cert was not honored you had to go through NYC building department or something like that
Reply:I was just talking to a guy the other day that was telling me about nys DOT certs, he was saying 1" plate all positions. Reply:Thank you for the response. I did a little looking around yesterday on the NYC website, and found an update stating that as of Nov 1 2009 they will honor both AWS and NYSDOT certs which are (I think) 3G & 4G combination, 1" plate vert up and overhead. If this is true I would be able to hopefully test local instead of going down into NYC, in the event a position ever opens up.
