Reply:Works fine for me. All I do with mine is heating with the rosebud and cutting - no complaints. The handle is a little clunky for welding in my opinion but does produce good results. I had a Harris setup previously but the regulators quit working so I bought the HF setup because I needed something on a weekend. Like I say, no complaints for the price. I even use the regulators with my Meco mini torch and they hold pressures well.JimCut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:If you can afford to spend 99 bucks on junk, just wait a bit until you can afford 2-300 and buy stuff that will last. If you have to borrow for now, then do that. Harbor freight is a good place to shop if you know what to buy. If I needed something to not explode, then I would buy it somewhere else.Just my opinion.Bill
Reply:Ive been using that type (got it off ebay, but its the same cheap generic kit that Ive found in HF and other places), for a little over a month now I think, almost every day (and am on my 3rd 75CF/80CF tank refills), and have had no problems. I bought it because I didn't want to spend an additional $200 at startup for something that I may not even like, and figured I could replace things if I needed. However, as I read more and more things relating to personal experiences with this kit (searching online, asking around, ebay feedback, etc), it became apparent that the kit would likely do me just fine. At first I, too, was a little weary of the regulators holding hundreds to thousands of PSI, but I kindof realized that HF would not likely endorse a tool that could easily malfunction and kill somebody.  It's fine to be weary of things, but it isn't really fair to call something "junk" just because of your own feelings, when everyone else has done just fine with it, especially if you haven't actually used it. If you have indeed used it, and had bad experiences it, that example would be much more useful to those interested.*edit*Now, if anyone has had real bad experiences with these setups, please share. I don't mean this sarcastically or disrespectfully, but all I have heard negatively about them has had a tone like "duh, it sucks, everyone knows that," almost likely there is some newspaper article about these kits killing a thousand people that I don't know about. Is there really something about these that I don't know?Last edited by JMcDonald; 07-26-2007 at 12:05 AM.
Reply:The only difficulty with HF is that there are no replacement parts available for their welding units. If nothing ever breaks or wears out, you'll be OK.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set
