I know you guys have probably seen enough carts but I think mine is a little different!I haven't posted pictures here so be easy on me, I'm not nearly done, I still need to finish the mount for the Maxstar and make a beer holder. Also I want to put a table above both of the welders.I am going to make storage for my band saw under the hobart and see what else fits.Last edited by bigwhitebeast; 03-27-2009 at 07:41 PM.“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”
Reply:The side cabinet keeps it narrow and still very usable, let me now what you think and what additions you think I should add. I am planning on adding hangers for my leads and making hold downs for the tanks.“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... Reply:I really like the pneumatic tires.  Makes it easy to roll over small obstructions, or irregular ground. Is the combined weight of the welder, cutter, and tanks enough to keep it from tipping backwards should you pull up on the tow handle as you're moving it?  The tool chest is pretty high.  Don't see it as a problem though, if you load the chest heavy on the bottom drawers, and light on the top drawersPretty neat!!!"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:great cart
Reply:what the dimensions of your cart, it looks like a wider wheel base might have made it better.  i'm just lookin at it and thinkin it would be quite a pain to load it into a truck, or roll aloang real rough ground(which is kinda the point in pneumatic tires, i think).  but you may never need to do any of that.
Reply:The steel frame is 18x48, I don't think I'd want to drag it behind my 4-wheeler but it's pretty stable. I put the rear axle pretty far back so the cabinet doesn't make it do a wheelie. So far it's heavy so yes putting it in a truck would be a project, my plan was to make it easy to use is around the garage and around the yard. If I take it anywhere I'll put it on the snowmobile trailer. Basically the size was determined due to space constraints, my garage is my shop to I needed to make it fit up front. Here it is put to bed for the night.“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... Reply:I probably use the same wheels.  They have a tendancy to lose air over time.  I guess the valves aren't too good.  A little blast of air every once in a while seems to keep 'em up.And the crazy valve stems always to be off line with the hole in the wheel(they try to pull in at an angle as the tire loses air).  Sometimes a pair of Vice Grips applied gently, so as not to damage the stem, will hold the stem firm enough to put an air chuck on it."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I don't see an independent suspension system or shocks...Just kidding, looks great.I love getting ideas from all these great projects.
Reply:looks nice. how do you like your little inverter?only thing worse than an ugly woman is an ugly weld
Reply:I thought that was a cutter.  Shows how modern I am"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:those are nifty little machines! hard to believe how well they operate.only thing worse than an ugly woman is an ugly weld
Reply:Great looking cart.  Hope you don't have wire feeding problems with the Hobart by having it at such an angle.

Reply:I've added the bottle holders and gave it an initial painting to keep it from rustingI also gave a bend to the handle so gravity would keep it in an upright position and it lloks better.I still need to make shelves under the welders and make a permanant hold down for the Maxstar and also some cable holders so everything isn't piled on top“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... Reply:. o O (Now add an engine under the welder, run a chain to a sprocket on the rear axle ......)Great cart - looks like it was well thought out.
Reply:Very nice design. Very trick!
Reply:Kind of thought out and kind of engineered on the fly I made an adjustment to the angle of the Hobart welder and it was more for room for the bottles because with the steeper angle the welder was hitting the top of the bottles. If I was really thinking the Hobart top would have been even with the gas regulator tops so I could have put a movable welding table above them and been able to move it to replace the bottles. The way it is now makes a table a little high but I'll be looking at it.Thanks for the compliments everyone, I looked at a lot of different carts and added my own twist while coming up with these ideas. I hope my cart helps someone come up with something better“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... Reply:Hey, you got 'er done!!  Looks goodAll's it needs now is a fold out BBQ"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Don't tempt him, Samm, that may be next ......
Reply:Hmmmm, engines, bbq, dancing poles..... I can still add stuff“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”
Reply:What did you use for the tank rings, pipe?
Reply:Maybe a slide-in receiver for a mini-grille?  Hey, ya get hungry out there on the jobsite ....... Looks like flat steel bent in a bender for the tank rings.Suggestion: do those drawers lock?  You may want to add a little insurance by putting a bracket on tiop of the box, and dropping a bar straight down to the bottom.  Would help to keep the drawers from sliding out, and add a little more security.Last edited by SpyGuy; 06-20-2009 at 11:10 PM.
Reply:The rings are 7" pipe with a little slot cut out of them and then I closed them up a little bit in the vise and welded them back together. I have a couple of friends that work at a fabrication shop and they "donated" the pipe already cut to size and even the slot cut out.The drawers lock and there is also a little detent to them, they close but if you give them a little push they will close a little more and won't just slide open.“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ...
