Okay, so I was bored ...... Yes, I suppose I could have ordered one online (actually, I did ), but it was more fun and challenging to make one instead.http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture037.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture038.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture039.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture040.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture041.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture042.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture043.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture044.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture045.jpghttp://i404.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture046.jpgBuckle is made from 2" square tube, cut lengthwise.  Belt buckle backing plate was drilled and screwed on (backwards!    Fixed now ....).  Hinge was from a cabinet door. Locking bar was from same thin-gauge section as end pieces.  Nuts were welded inside the buckle for the screws, and also to even out the surface on which the iPod was going to rest.  A hole was cut in the end for the headphone jack.Whole project took about eight hours, a good half of which was shaping the pieces in the first place, grinding, and polishing.  Still a little rough, needs some more cleanup work, but the iPod fits securely inside, and the locking bar makes sure it stays there.  Now I have my tunes always at hand (literally)!
Reply:THAT is awesome! It's not what you can buy, it's what you can build.
Reply:very impressive, i never thought of making a belt buckle, much less one thats got a purposeI break things for a living...
Reply:Thats great!
Reply:The buckle is actually slightly oversized for the iPod, as I wanted to fit one of the sleeves/body gloves inside the case for protection.  This version doesn't have the viewport for the screen, just the controls.  I'll probably be cutting out the viewport later on today, though.  The latch is a simple bar with a notch in it to keep the buckle closed (and my iPod safe!)
Reply:That's nice.I never got into the whole iPod fad.  Could you make a belt buckle for this?http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...lkman_WM-2.jpgHobart Handler 187Bainbridge bandsawMakita chop sawHarbor Freight 4.5" grinder
Reply:IPod way better than walkman, the new Nano is really nice.
Reply:Jetlag-Sure can!  You want the heavy-duty suspenders with that order?  Making those out of triple-row chain, which will be about what you'll need to hold up a buckle that size ....Got the iPod buckle I ordered today - get this: half an inch shorter than the one I built, 1/4" thinner, and the holes are drilled wrong, so I would have to lay the iPod facedown to make it work for the headphone jack.  I think I'll stick with mine ..... (Yeah, it's going back.)
