Hello to all NOOB here. I have just registered so I probably will screw up some things. Feel free to direct me.I'm an old fart, with very little welding experience that needs help. Okay, now the intro and groveling is done, here's the deal. I have an older Miller 225 Bobcat Ser.# KH377410. The machine had not been cranked/run in a couple years at least. This week I started to get the machine in running order. New battery, cleaned gas tank and tearing down the carburetor and rebuilding, etc. and it is running like new. Now here's the bad news. The machine is running and I'm still cleaning up. I bumped a plug and everything stopped, Reading the schematic( for KH329624) I have, it is Plug 4with broken wires. Six wires running from the engine to the welder. I need to know what wire goes to what. The starter wires (5,6) I got, I think. The remaining wires not... I know. I should have done a better job of keeping the wires in order. I didn't. I screwed up. On the engine side of the plug the wires are colored and on the welder/panel side all white. Sorry for the long post but I need help badly and I wanted to explain why!!!!!!! I have searched the web and called Miller customer service, no help. I think they may have had a problem translating eastern NC redneck. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Reply:Hey sheryle you can go to millers website and download a manual for your welder for free. Where are you located in north carolina?Miller Bobcat 250Westinghouse ac arc welderIts better to be hated for who you are than liked for who your not.
Reply:Thanks Tri-County I did download a couple but I haven't found one wired like mine For instance say the schematic shows the wire leaving the plug and going to the hour meter.. Mine may go to the hour meter after it joins some other plug or post.I don't see a connection to the battery other than the main positive cable straight to the starter. I guess I'm easily confused. I live just east of Smithfield.
Reply:Sheryle, we'll need more info to help you. Your machine serial # indicates a 1996 manufacture, but Miller won't give info on a machine that old w/o the model name too. Which motor does your machine have? The more info you give us the better someone here can help you. There are several excellent Miller hands here.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply::Thanks gizzardgutz. One day I would like know how you came up with that handle. I did not want to go overboard with my first post. Afraid if it got too long people would not read it. If you need more information just tell me. I've been unemployed for over a year.. I cannot afford to take it to a shop right now. The engine is a Kohler 18HP, model number CH18S; spec number? 52574,;disc cc ? 624; and serial number 27100119307. I think the year is right on. I bought the machine new, for a construction company I worked for at the time. I acquired it as part of my "separation package". All above board. The machine only has about 1700 hours on it. If I fix my screw up maybe it will last a few more years.
Reply:Next time put this type of question in the Miller section. Duaneb55 frequents that and is one heck of a Miller doctor. Hopefully he will look here and chime in. BTW, Welcome aboard!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:They didn't want a model number, but a model name. See if this is not your manual.http://www.millerwelds.com/service/locate_om.phpAlso, as Stick-Man suggested, Go to the Miller section and start a new thread with your problem and machine info there. The guys that can help you will never find it here. Put something like "225 bobcat electrical problems" for the thread name.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
