Here's a project I started 18 months ago. I finished all the parts back then but waited to put it all together until the bed got painted. Well, as you can see from the mirror like finish in the [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp8yWc_rtH4[/ame] video I just got it painted. I have to admit, it took me a while to figure out how to put it back together ie: what was I thinking 18 months ago I needed a new tailgate for the old truck, the previous was well worn out. So I made up a new one that's about 20 inches taller than the old and considerably heavier. I wanted to be able to lower and raise the gate like a pickup truck but also allow it to operate on it's top hinge when dumping. I remembered an old hand winch from 10 years ago that was still NIB. I got it out, narrowed the spool from about 3 inches wide to a half inch wide, punched out the bearings, duplicated it's housing into the end of the dump bed and 18 months later... finally tested it Glad it worked cause I would hate to scratch the new finish to make adjustments Attached Images

I take pics during the teardownIt's not so bad for main large parts, it's when you have to remember the correct orientation of washers and shims"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I agree with partagas. You should be sure to keep that thing off the freeway. Might have a bunch of women run into the back of you on the way to work while they are trying to put their makeup on! Nice work!Millermatic 252"Don't worry, he's got a welder, he can fix anything" |
