does stainless filler, during the tig process,  "fill" in porosity? I have read it some where and was woundering if it was true to some extent, or completely false. I asked my welding instructor if he ever heard anything like that and he said no. So i'm just curious if this is true of not.

Reply:Hey jpmiller,I still make attempts to understand those who ask about porosity & what "cures", such as the thread indicated, will work. The ONLY cure is to grind out the porosity & re-weld. Porosity is a sign that one parameter of the welding process used is incorrect & that parameter must be identified & corrected.......quite simple, isn't it? There are many variables that cause porosity & generally it is operator error. You cannot "fix" a problem by adding more to the problem.....just doesn't work. You will find clean, dirt/rust-free, properly prepped material will weld quite nicely with no issues if you have the knowledge/experience with the process used.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab.
