Reply:I had decided you weren't ever going to use the thing.  Good lookin' welds. Now get some 5/32 and 3/16 so you can save some time. Excalibur is absolutely the best 7018 that I've used. Back in the olden times when Atom Arc was made by Chemtron in the US it was almost as good. But that was long ago.A tip for that flat weldin'. Get some Jet rod and go to town. It takes a little more oomph than 7018 for the same size rod but that's no problem for the Ranger. Faster, smoother deposit and it will stretch farther before letting go than any other mild rod.

Reply:Samm, does your machine have that little 90 degree elbow on the exhaust? I threw the one on mine away and let the exhaust blow straight up. Seems to be quieter that way and the fumes don't seem to hang around.I welded a plate on a piece of pipe and drop it over the exhaust for a rainproof.Last edited by Oldtimer; 07-23-2009 at 05:51 PM.

Reply:What ever you did..It sure looks nice..But I have been tolded many times that you arent supposed to do any sort of whipping motion at all with 7018 as it will cause slag entrapment.  Dont take this as criticism or like im telling you that its done wrong,  Its more of my one question I guess.  Looks really nice.
