Vid verticle up

My son and I made a video of a triangle weave using 7018.Next one will be MIG and I think it will come out better.  I can see the puddle in this vid sometimes.David Last edited by David R; 09-26-2007 at 07:42 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:I took a couple of the bead trying to show the profile.  The whole idea is to get a flat vertical up.  Not concave, not convex.  It works for me.Son is here for the weekend, we will be hanging around the shop all weekend, so with a little luck, I have some 1/2" plate, .045 wire and Co2.  Wait till you see the wire go into the plate.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Hey David, That is great to see a vertical weld in real time.  I have a very difficult time controlling the puddle going up, I wouldn't have guessed that the "pace" would be that slow.  I have found I can keep the puddle from drooping if I weld down, is that wrong?  I will post some pictures for critique when I get a little closer.
