Had a half azz Hydraulic unit on my shear, made from a wheel chair lift power unit, two Merc Cruiser out drive cylinders, a 12 volt battery, and a battery charger. What a PITA allways forgetting to turn the charger off, or worse yet, turning it on.I found a small hydraulic pump in the junk yard, cost about $1.50.Only thing I could find wrong with it was a bent shaft. Took an old washing machine motor and hooked it to the pump with a home made flexcoupling and mounted it all on a tank.Couldn't find a metric hyd. fitting for the pump output, so I used a 14mm x 1.5 capscrew amd machined a nut to accept a O-ring. Reply:I don't get it???? Is that a real small shear, or that pump just operates a clamp or something? I wouldn't think that motor or pump would be sized correctly. Please explain cuz I am a little confused and just spent a good chunk of change on a good sized motor and very small displacement pump for my press.
Reply:52" 16 ga sheer. Hyd unit operates the shear. Since the spool in the directional valve leaks badly, I have to add my 250 lbs on the pedal to cut 16 ga. so in that case it's just an assist. Cuts every thing else with no problem. If I close the regulator valve all the way it will stall the motor. May have to up the hp when I find a new valve.Hey, we're working with junk here.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug |
