The first photo is of beads.  The longest straightest bead was made using whipping action, all others were made using circular motions. A inside corner joint

Reply:tapwelder, what rods were you using and what settings were you using on your welder. I have never done any aluminum stick and would like to find out some info on it. I've asked about it on several other forums and could never find any one who has actually used it before. I have a small job that I could do but with the restricted access to it's location the only way for me to do the job would be with the stick process. Any info you can pass off to me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks DaveI am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!
Reply:Techniweld 1300 is the rod,  recommend 40-80 amps reverse polarity.This is my second attempt.  The first time I was using 40amp and 60amps.  This morning I used 60-80amps. It was much easier this morning.http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=15573 Denrep.  There is very little spatter once welding begins.  The spatter at the begining of each weld is because I break off about 1/2" of flux to make striking easier.  I start with no coverageWhen the arc is broken the electrode tip gets encased in flux and the rod bends when tapped. Also you need to be ready to feed when the arc starts.  A foot pedal and high frequently might be an asset.Last edited by tapwelder; 10-20-2007 at 11:07 AM.
