Guys broke a tab off the bucket. Doesn't support any weight only used to hook up the bucket. Only thing i had was a frame rail off a semi so i layed it over the other one and cut er out. not exact but better than nothing. Millermatic DVIMillermatic 251Older buzz box Cheap 120 welder

Reply:I beg to differ, but every attachment point on a backhoe bucket is subjected to all kinds of weight, stress, and twisting action.Maybe you could expand on your post and explain in more detail??
Reply:I think from your words, and your pictures, that you have accurately defined the limitations of both your knowledge and abilities.Have a Good Night.Last edited by Black Wolf; 08-14-2009 at 10:59 PM.Later,Jason
Reply:Well when they give you 20 mins before its got to be out the door you slap it together and pretty it up later. I hadn't finished welding or grinding when i took the pic. Like i said its only used when hooking up the bucket so there is no pressure on it besides the weight of the bucket for 30 seconds. It broke because some guy picked it up wrong with the thumb on the machine and broke the tab off. Learn your equipment before you go saying things you don't know about. Man if i would have known this is how i would be treated i would have never joined this forum in the first placeMillermatic DVIMillermatic 251Older buzz box Cheap 120 welder
Reply:Take it easy, relax, grow a little thicker skin. I don't think you properly described what went on there. Maybe photos showing the various steps of the project might have helped. I have to ask: what is that pile on the outside of the hook? I have welded and fixed more buckets than I even want to think about.Last edited by maarty; 08-15-2009 at 12:32 AM.
Reply:Well I say good job. I mean when you in a rush and in a pinch if it works it works and there's nothing wrong with that. I've had to do a few quick repairs late at night and all you have is whats laying around the shop and you just gotta make it work.Keep posting and for get the negative people
Reply:If it's your equipment, make time to do it right. If it's somebody elses equipment, don't take the job unless they will give you time. I always like to say that it will be done when I LET it out the door. Untill then, looking over my shoulder and bitching isn't going to speed things up. Has served me well so far. Lot's of guys bitch up front, but are thankfull later on when everything is still holding together.
Reply:I would rather 10 people came in and tore my projects apart than have two pages of "Good job" and "Nice" when my project sucked. You shouldn't second guess posting on the forum because people told it like it is. Your mission now is do a better job, post it, and you will get the responses you were looking for. Rushing isn't a good excuse for poor results.
Reply:Not sure what brand, haven't quite seen something like this before, this looks like something the operator hooks onto, grabs the bucket with, before engaging the 'Quick-tach" clamps. Probably hooked onto crooked, broke one side off. I'm familiar with the common Case, and Cat, quick-tachs, this one looks like neither. For a fast, quick, get it back out there job, nothing wrong. Do it, get the stuff working again. Hold a gun, to the operator's head,,,,, " if you even DARE to screw this up again, at 3AM this morning,,,, " In any case, not sure I would've posted up this job, or these pics, on this board. NOT, unless, afterwards, I was able to also post up the properly done, job, after the emergency was over, several days later, with a proper fix.

Reply:I'm curious as well about the hookup. I've never seen one like that. What make of machine is it?

Reply:Seen a couple of home made quick hitches before and that does not look like a commercially available unit |
