Always wanted a BBQ Smoker, so the junk came up and I started building, the only thing I have to do is sandblast it and paint it, total cost in it at this point is $170.00 rest of the stuff I had laying around, lets start this is a Muffler off of a 3412 Caterpillar engine we took off a wrecked truck where I work, Oh yeah thats what I do for a living Diesel mechanic on Industrial engines and trucks, but here it is weighs about 300lbsThen it all started coming together and this is where its at now, no build pics I worked on it sporadically I got about 15hrs in it total over a 3week period, tell me what you think, few details before pics, Fire box is Stainless Steel 1/8" think, it has 3 1 1/2" intakes, and a 10" opening into the smoke chamber, has adjustable damper, other stainless box is wood and charcoal storage, 4 inch smoke stack with adjustable smoke damper, custum hand cut by me pig and cow on the lid, the smoke chamber is 24" diameter by 48" wide so tell me what you think it will look better after its all painted and cleaned uplook over the messy garage

Reply:Gotta love that diesel exhaust stack he's got on there .... Great work on your smoker! The triple valves on the side are for airflow? Most important question: going to take it back to work and have a company barbeque?
Reply:Ribs? You got that right, and yep I told the guys that I will bring it one weekend and we can have some pulled pork sammies, thanks for the comments so far
Reply:nice. i wish i had a garage that sizeSomeone needs to make an auto-darkening Predator welding helmet...complete with dreads and multiple spectra of IR vision.
Reply:Do those valves on the side have rubber or teflon seals inside?I bet the plastic on the handles do not last too long.
Reply:I like the valves on the side also. I imagine the seats are Teflon good for about 340 F. They make metal seated ball valves but I don't remember how they compare in price to the Teflon seated valves. Even with no seats I bet it would still work very well. Good Job!!!If you can cook as well as you can make a cooker then I might want to pay you a visit
Reply:I am sooooo hungry. Need some action pics when you fire it up.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:cow and pig and no frickin chicken?????????need a some damn chicken on there and in there...very nice.
Reply:Very nice my friend!!
Reply:Beer can chicken, please. Might as well BBQ the whole barnyard.
Reply:The pig and the cow are fine - you start putting a whole buncha animals on there like a chicken, a turkey, and gawd-knows-what-else, soon the lid's gonna be too heavy to open without a winch ..... |
