Reply:Did I mention the many hours with a flapper disk and wire cup? Stripped it down to bare metal, then worked on the rust.

Last weekend we went to a residence not far from home, but we got there 1 hour after they started. I looked around and found a steel table with a vice. It was marked $35.00, so I took it. It has 1/2" steel top (it's about 3 ft X 3 ft) and has 2" pipe legs, 1/4" steel tray and very heavy casters. It has what looks like a steel pot (about 6" round and 4" deep) welded flush to the top. I have no idea what it's for and the owner claimed to have had the table made for him, and he had no idea either. Maybe filled with water to slide things over for quenching? When I got home I checked the vice. It's made in USA by Yost. I never heard of them, but this is a sheet metal worker vice. They still make them and will send me one for $588.00. This is what keeps me going each weekend.John |
