Reply:Hey wereding,You'll not find substantial answers here as this forum is for the metallic applications of fusion. You would best be served doing a Google search. Reply:Get some of the cleaner and glue plumbers use for PVC drain pipe..There is no such thing as plastic welding rod....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Hey Zap,You know I don't generally challenge too much on the forum, although I will challenge you on that one. There are plastic welding rods probably in as many flavors as metal welding. 8 yrs ago, I helped a youngster who wanted to learn how to weld.......plastic. I showed him what the art of fusion involved, & even though different material, it welds in like fashion. He started a plastic repair shop to repair all those sh*tty plastic parts on autos that is almost every part of a damn car today. He got into bumper repairs for an insurance company & he had so much work, he bought a 100' X 100' building & bought the newest plastic welding equipment, & now has (6) youngsters who weld for him & an office staff of (4) to take care of all the typical gov't. paperwork/payroll/taxes. He is doing quite well today. Nice young fellow who followed his goals to fruition.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:I have done a little plastic welding, have a couple of plastic welders. the biggest PITA is figuring out what type of plastic it is if you are not buying it new. also various process to weld it, Hot air, air/nitrogen, direct thermal contact, ultrasonic etc.in general it takes the following 3, heat, pressure and filler to get a proper weld on plastic. once the rod and base material are heated it the pressure of the rod or heating element in the joint that makes the fusion.Last edited by soutthpaw; 11-26-2011 at 03:36 PM.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:What type of plastic pipe? Ptfe, abs, PVC, cpvc, tfe, ???????When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.
Reply:Hey guys,To Bob(rhunt): Yes, it was great teaching him & his interest & hunger to learn fusion indicated he was a genuine hard-working youngster with a desire to start his own, PROFITABLE, company. He takes me out to a surf & turf dinner every 2nd Sat in May as that is the anniversary weekend he spent with me.To Zap: Yup......a day is wasted unless you learn at one new thing. Now......you gotta see if Tozzi can show you how to make those "stack-o-dimes" the HARD WAY!!!!!!DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab.
