New truck bumper

I decided to replace the front bumper on my truck here is the picture of my idea of how it should look when complete, minus the push bar that im adding.  ( the reason its sitting cocked is because its barely hanging their as im mocking it upthe mock up is 14ga the real on will be 3/16 with 1/4 gussets and 3/8" frame brackets Attached Images

Reply:the thing on the floor is actually a stand to hold material for my band saw, with a sample bend tacked to it.  Im planning on powdercoating it white

Reply:Looks like it will be pretty sturdy.If you can't make the bends on 3/16" one thing I've done is to make a cut about halfway through along the bend line (on the inside face), then bend it and do a weld over the cut.  This leaves the outside nice and smooth without having to do any cleanup of the welds.
Reply:I think it looks good.It's hard to make a bumper for the new trucks.  All the trucks look like crap nowdays with the rounded front end.  They haven't made a decent looking truck since the early 90's.A lot of the straight no frills work trucks I see around here have gone retro  I'm seeing a return to a nice functional straight tube or pipe bumper with a filler plate on top to fit the egg shaped contour of the truck.  And it gives you something to stand on when working under the hood."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
