So I'm just getting into welding and I want to purchase a unit that I can learn on, but still have enough power that I can keep it around and use it for... well.. forever. As I said I'm new to welding and have alot to learn, but I want something I can learn and and have cover me in most all situations.
Reply:The higher the amp output you get now will be the higher power you will need to keep it around forever. So look into the 210 or 211 vs the 180. The MVP will allow you to use it where 240V power may not be available. If your going to keep it forever, you never know when in the future you may want to use it somewhere besides your home shop.
Reply:I'm guessing you would like opinions on the different machines even though you don't ask a specific question. I'd agree on the Miller and the Hobart over the Lincoln based on top end power for the long haul. All the Millers I've had seem to be slightly better built than the matching Hobart's, that are generally targeted towards the hobbyist or small shop market. Because of this the Hobart's are usually priced a bit less than the Miller counterparts. If budget is a concern, then go with the Hobart and don't worry about it. If you plan to do a lot of welding in the future, say you are looking to open a serious shop of some sort in the future, I'd go with the Miller because of the heavier duty parts that are usually found in them. All in al, I doubt you will go wrong with any of the choices listed above. Part of it may simply come down to what color is most easily available where you are at, or what preference you have for a particular company..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Add the thermal arc 181i to the mix has a higher rated output than the linclon and is almost right up there with the 211,210 the only difference between the 210 and 211 is the 210 has tapped voltage outputs. Price list on both web sites $29 list price difference both use the same parts
Reply:I would wait until next year to purchase a unit, several manufacturers are suppose to be coming out with some nice new models.. I would almost bet around tax time.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
