Reply:not that bad. I question how strong those hinges will be though. And how stable it is with just one leg like that.-AlexSears/Craftsman 230A Buzzy BoxSears/Craftsman 180A Buzzy BoxChicago Electric 80A InverterALL STICK...ALL THE TIME!I spent a lot of time with the square peg and round hole.
Reply:it will probably hold for a while, but I would expect it to eventually break again. the hinge is probably binding and making the aluminum flex back and for which probably caused the original breakDynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:Its an Orchard ladder. Made that way. will sit steady on uneven ground.  Mac
Reply:Seems sorta sloppy for $50.  I wouldn't be proud of that work.  It didn't looked prepped very well.   (I would have thought for a job that looked like that the price would be a six pack of beer...)Er.. so why are you posting? zip
Reply:I think it looks terrible.  It was done by THE welding shop around here (and I had a few too many of those beers).  For a Pro shop, I would've expected dime stacks.Last edited by Drf255; 12-05-2011 at 02:07 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:It doesnt look like any effort went into even cleaning the material.. Not good in my opinion.HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.
Reply:That's where my post stems from.  The friend I borroed it from thought my awful Aluminum practice beads looked great.  He said his only Aluminum repair cost him $50 and looked "globbed on".  Maybe there was no way for the shop to get it really clean.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum

Reply:damn!  We paid $75 to have some cast aluminum on a turbo welded with a VERY thin walled piece of 2.75" pipe so we could put normal couplers on it, as opposed to a v-band connection. Looked a lot better than that.  I wouldn't send anyone to that shop... maybe my enemies.JoeMiller 140 Autoset (2010)Miller Syncrowave 250 (1996)
Reply:At least it isn't a very tall ladder.
Reply:Two turn tables and a microphone.
Reply:I'm a beginner at Tig, so it's always interesting to get a comment ona weld since I'm teaching myself to weld and it helps me to beable to identify sources for bad results etc.. First, I got a bit sidetracked by the rust on the screw of the single leg - I thought it was a steel ladder Could someone give me a detailed thought on the weld - as the othersmentioned I see the discoloration / lack of prepwork but it seemslike the weld bead was "unloaded from a truck"  - too much too coldor am I reading it wrong  ? (OK, you can get me backfor saying that when I show my "good" welds  )

Reply:not bad, looks like either too much weld or too cold. as long as she holds
Reply:That could use a grinddown and reweld. Should be a lot cleaner second time around. Reply:If someone used the ladder after paying for a repair and got hurt due to the weld failing again? That would not be good.  Everyone is playing on safety these days.  the ladder should have been junked.  Some jobs should be turned away even if you can fix it.DanD
Reply:You paid for THAT?Awful....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:It doesnt seem very well cleaned or just good at all. My instructor always made sure the beads were very even and then we would grind away any slag left from the weld. Just leaving the weld glob on there makes it look tacky and unprofessional. have you tested it too see of it would break?
