Inverter Tig ?

i want to buy an inverter TIG for my work truck, and some shop use. i want to weld mostly aluminum with it, fixing marine stuff. i have a Hobart champ 10K on the truck, and use it mostly for stick, and power my HH 210 MIG. i ordered a DP 3035 Spool Gun last Friday, should be in soon. plan on running alum on it as well. but can run Mil Steel and SS as well. plus i can run that with the other welders. my question is what would be a good Inverter TIG for running off the 10Kw gen ? i looked at the TA 185 seems like it will work and is not as expensive as the Dynasty 200DX. Reply:In my experiance 185 is a little shy on power for thicker aluminum. 200 or 225would be perfect. I have also pleyed with a DX a little and it is a great machine that could be ron from 6 to 8 kw on a generator. I ran the 200 at 150 amps from my little 5500 watt unit I use tor my Maxstar Steel Thunder Welding LLC. Reply:All the 185-200 amp inverter welders will run at max output with a 30A, 220V breaker. I have used a dynasty, and a Lincoln. I own the Lincoln. Not really by choice, but by circumstance. I really like it. You would need to check each welders' online manual to see about voltage fluctuation/ stabilizing on the generator. Some inverters are really specific on what voltage variance they will tolerate. This must just be a generator thing, some kind of a pulse in power or something, because I believe all these inverters will run on 110v or 220. I know the dynasty and Invertec205 both do.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:if you have the money go for the DX. You can use it for anything. and the maxstar is DC only if i remember correctly.
Reply:Yes the Maxstar is dc only just and example. The DX is a great machine and once you learn it you can taylor the arc to helt with aluminum. Remember anodized is tricky at best and a machine with the variable arc control will help you with welding. Steel Thunder Welding LLC.
