I am new to the welding trade and am in the process of trying to find a company that might give me on the job training. Can you guys give me any tips on what kind of businesses I could look into. I work with a guy who said he started out at a company that made fences and that's how he got started.

Reply:Right now is probably the best time to ask this question......Most code shops will train you as you work for them....there are not enough welders right now to fill the needed positions. If there are any ASME shops around check with them.A young green pipe welder asked an old salt one day...How can I make the weld on the bottom of the pipe look like the top.......The old salt replied....Screw up the top......
