I've seen some really great jobs done here on rotary cutter repairs. I thought I would post my latest on here to get a bit of feedback and try my hand at pic posting. I know the welds aren't the tops like a lot of you but I have a couple of them to put up for constructive criticism. I've also let my computing skills diminish somewhat so bear with me.Seeing your child exceed your expectations through a spark you created is the most wonderful feeling in the world!Miller Syncrowave 250 Millermatic 180Too much other stuff to list!

Reply:I rarely use a wire welder.  I mean rarely  So ya might wanna take this with a grain of saltThe welds(your welds) look pretty good.  Lap welds should go to the very top of the lap if possible, even to the point of maybe building a little bit of filler above the joint.Pic one is a Cold Weld  (Too convex)Pic two is a decent weld(for me anyway's) in the right heat range  (lower, and more concave)All wire welds look cold to meGood looking repair job. Reply:First off I want to say thank you for the replies! I know this is not a picture perfect job but I saw it as a way to finally step in the door here. I do take pride in my work but considering my very limited shop space and very limited amount of equipment, I can get by for now. Most of that job was done with a motor hoist, sledge hammer, and a large pry bar. I look back now and wish I had taken on the project of starting a small welding and repair shop when I was making good money and could have easily bought better and more equipment to work with but you know the saying.... hind sight is 20-20! Now I'm starting it on a shoe string budget! I have most of the basic hand tools I need and I ended up with a MM 180. I am so needing a decent stick welder but money is tight and even if I am able to come across one for cheap I'm still limited to 220 service.Further down the road if the biz gets better I would at least like to obtain a bobcat 225 so I can be portable. I've found that there is only one place in town that is doing portable welding and they stay overwhelmed with work. That said the possibility is there for me to jump on the bandwagon so to speak if things go right! Once again thanks for the replies and I look forward to hanging here with the pros and enthusiasts!
