I kept a small collection of projects from school. While I know there are those who can weld with "surgical precision", I am not one of them! Take for example this 3-pass horizontal fillet... It got me a check (for completed) in class. Here is a vertical downhill 3-pass fillet in a tee-joint, we were informed that this was simply for familiarization and do not get friendly with welding downhill!!Next we came to vertical uphill!OK, move on to overhead. Thanks for having a look. Of course the pile that you don't see gets recycled into tin cans or rebar or God knows what else! City of L.A. Reply:Well that vert up looks mighty fine. I've developed this dang ridge up the center with verticle up. Don't know where it came from. Won't go away.
Reply:Nice looking welds T. They didn't even have mig welders at my shcool.I find a pause at the sides get rid of the 'fat belly'. Or using a triangle weave.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The horizontal T joint looks more like a cold 6013. The rest of the welds look alot better. The vert up is nice. What happend with the horizontal? --Gol'

Reply:It is covered in rust and the beads are not great, but I was just burning bead after bead, no clean up in between beads. Just practicing. Here is the important view, imho. The weld metal is solid, no inclusions at all in the cut zone. (There may be a ding or 2 since I cut it!)Left half......and right half. The last shots show exactly the profile of the warm up beads and the fit up is just as I found it in the scrap bin.Once again thanks for taking a look!City of L.A.
