Hello im just coming off a two year vacation from the welding/fabrication biz(went back to work with animals, much more rewarding) anyway im looking to purchase a TIGMATE/ECONO but am concerned that the 30A may restrict my welding i mainly weld between 22-18G and all the reps are telling me that i need to step up to the syncro but i dont really remember tuning the old airco heliarc(circa 1960) i used to use in the shop down any lower than 30. any advise is appreciated i just dont trust any salesman who stands to gain another 6-800 dollard on the step up
Reply:I was going to suggest you look at a TA-185. Seems the upped the amps and gone to 110/220 1/3 phase like the Miller Dynasty. Sadlay that comes with a pretty good price jump. around $ 2500. That's still about $600 less than the Miller. For the thin stuff the inverters with their pulsing abilities are a real asset.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
