I've never really paid much attention to the voltage readout on my Dynasty until the other day I gave my friend a crash course on TIG welding. I kept telling him to keep the tungsten closer to the work and I watched the voltage drop as he got closer and then go back up when he pulled the tungsten farther away. Is there an optimum voltage range? Or is it really just there FYI?
Reply:Just an FYI. Usually less than 15V on my Dynasty - tough to watch while welding I think 13 or 14V at about 120 Amps.Note that if you look at the ratings for the Dynasty, they rate it at something like 30V. Which means you are actually pulling about 1/2 the power.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:I thought so, and like you said it's not like you can actually see it while you're working under the hood. |
