first posted project here. sorry, no close ups of the welds just yet. not sure if i'm ready for the criticism from everyone yet. anyways, workin on this trailer in my small *** garage has proved to be a pain. i keep having to move the trailer in and out of the garage, so i figured i would slap together something to make that chore easier. didnt need anything fancy, just something functional. had to buy the wheels, but had everything else. about $15 in wheels and 3 hours of my time and.... voila what do ya think??
Reply:Hello Springer.Looks like a good idea that makes your project work easier. I wondered if the bases are wide enough for the load, but as long as they are stable and can handle the load, then they should work for you.Keep up the good work and keep posting pictures of your trailer build. Reply:Trailer rotisserie, I like it.Post the close ups of your welds, we will only help to improve your skills. The longer you wait to do so, the longer it will take to improve...
Reply:rotisserie!! i knew this was called something i just couldnt think of it. oh well. as far as being wide enough on the base, its pretty stable. i was worried about the same thing, but when it came together, ended up being pretty dang stable. the reason i didnt post the welds, was because i was doing it in a hurry and just slapping it together but actually trying to do the whole 360* around the post without stopping so it ended up being kind of ugly and uneven. but as you wish, i will get some pics up soon. i tried to take some with my phone, but they dont show up good enough to see so i will have to get my camera from work.
Reply:Frame looks very light for the length to me. I'm thinking it looks to be at least 14-16' in length, and made of 2" square tube, unless it's an optical illusion due to the camera angle. What are you planning to use the trailer for?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:trailer is 12', but is only going to be used to haul fourwheelers. nothing too extreme. when i get more progress on the trailer, i will start a thread so everyone can criticize it. i just haven't got very far on it yet.
Reply:Cool looking Tool !Would love to see some close-up photos of the Clamps and the construction...Cheers,/Jman..
Reply:Excellent ideaNext step is to become comfortable with out of position welding. You'll be amazed at how much time it saves. No more flipping and positioning. Build up your confidence level with it, and you'll be cruisin' in no time."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
