Hi folks,I am in Eastern Canada, so prices are no doubt somewhat higher here than in the US, but I thought these prices seems really high - I have not bought new steel for a couple of years.3/4" tube (083 wall, just less than 1/8" thick) - $0.85 / ft1" tube (1/8" thick) - $1.15 / ft2" tube (3/16" thick) - $3.80 or so a ft2" tube (1/4 " thick) almost a buck more ft, around $4.70Please let me know if these are out of whack, or if I am out of touch!Last edited by Northeaster; 01-05-2012 at 05:53 PM.
Reply:looks about right to me for by the ft new metal. are you going to a steel supplier or a hardwarestore that also supplies metal stock? the latter is the only option I have close at hand so that could be why it doesn't seem to high to me.There are no problems. Reply:I had 2" 3/16 tubing priced a couple weeks ago here in northern Colorado at $3.50/ft.
Reply:That is from a local steel supplier - that is there only business, and they are a reasonable size. I have bought from them before. Last time I built a 5 x 10 trailer, for only a few hundred in new steel (+ axles, lights, etc) so maybe it's me, but $40 something bucks for 12 ft of 2" tubing seems awfully high... |
