Has anyone owned or used a Miller Performance Series helmet? If so, what is your opinion? I can get one for $187. on line.Should I lay out a little more$ for something else? Thanks,Jaack
Reply:In another thread, one of the members mentioned the Miller Performance Series, #232035. He also provided a link to a vendor who had them for $185. (I've seen them at one other place online for $225.) I made up a spreadsheet to compare features of various helmets, but I don't have the advertised reaction time for the 232035.I still haven't settled on a particular make or model for my first helmet, but I found that Miller interesting because it has variable shade, 8-13. Its "light state" is listed as Shade 3.I thought the price was pretty good, but I'm going to keep comparing them, and maybe check to see what some suppliers in my area might have available.Decisions, decisions . . .

Reply:Im also looking for a welding helmet... have it narrowed down between a Miller or Lincoln. The lincoln 2450 series has 4 sensors and a alot larger viewing area for just under $200 thats what im prob gonna end up with.
Reply:You know if you take a print out of a price that you see on line to your local welding supply they may meet that priceMy local Airgas dealer did plus i didn't have to pay shipping and i just walked out with it right then But there is another advantage to your LWS is that they have quite a few different helmets right there for you to try and compare up close and personal likeThat's how i chose the Digital Elite for my self But go there and compare and choose for your self because just looking up stuff on the net doesn't let you get the fit and feel for something your going to wear for hours on endBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Almost all my welders are Lincoln. I use a Miller Elite helmet because its best. I bought a lincoln vista and it was far too heavy. The lincoln also has no gasket in the front lens, so smoke gets up between the lenses. Much prefer Miller for a helmet.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:i've heard that the big window lenses get distortion at the periphery..also since you are only welding in a 1/2" circle at any given time, why need one? pipeliners have been doin okay with them little 4 x 2 flipups..my personal suggestion is a $35 huntsman or fibremetal with a 4 x 2 flipup gold lens..the flipup lets you grind without switching the hood for safetyglasses.. |
