this is one of my most recent projects, a 8 ft snow push for my skid steer, had all the metal plasma cut at a local shop and am in the process of welding it now. still need to develope a blade trip for it, have something in the works now, we well see if it works or not, i well post more when i have it finished
Reply:I've never seen a trip on any type of loader blade. I think it will be useless with those wings on there anyways. Just use the float setting if you got it or go with a rubber blade edge.My name's not Jim....
Reply:looks pretty good, but the arms where it looks like the bucket edge slips into look a little light.why not get rid of the arms and make up a female coupler brkt. and weld it to the back. i totally agree with putting it in float as i have done more skid reconditioning than needed to be.millermatic 200 millermatic 150miller bluestar 2Epurox / oxweld O/A
Reply:Another vote on just using the float function. All the loaders I have run with those types of pushers just bolt to the bucket and use the float function. With the wings there is no way the pusher will rotate forward like a blade trip on a standard plow. If you really want a trip function you will need to go with a trip edge like on a Fisher Plow or a Baker/Flink. The blade trip on the Fisher is a coil type and a PITA to work with getting the springs on and off. The Baker/Flink uses a spring like a clothes pin, and look to swap out easier from looking at the ones the guys I plow with have..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks for all the great suggestions, may put some of them to use, if anyone has any ideas on the trip, feel free to suggest away. also the rubber blade idea, i looked into it, unfortunately it won't work for me as we don't use salt here, and the rubber really sucks getting ice and packed snow off.

Reply:Trust me if you hit anything like an inlet box or manhole at speed, even with a trip you'll smack the windshield. I know EVERY manhole, waterbox and inlet cover that sticks up in the sections I plow. I get rocked more times than I can count everytime we plow. I've seen one guy launch the truck and plow with a trip and get airtime, after slaming a newly installed waterbox he didn't know about. He cleared it going the one way, but not comming back. Ripped the blade and frame off the truck even though the blade tripped over.I'll shoot some picts of the blade trip on my Fisher later, and if I have the time I'll try and swing by and snap a few on the BakerFlinks if they are out in the yard and not locked in the fenced area. The one thing with the edge trips. The cutting edge needs to be almost vertical and not canted forward as yours looks. If it's canted forward you take a VERY solid hit before the blade cams over and raises the weight of the unit. I have that issue on mine. With the larger cutting edge, I end up with a slight cant to the front, rather than a near perfect vertical. With the cutting edge vertical it just picks the blade up a bit and then swings back. Even the big 12' blade trip plow on the Mack has the cutting edge nearly vertical so it cams the blade over with the least beating on the driver. It will make more sense from the pict most likely..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:great pics, thanks a lot, i am thinking the next trip i have to do is going to be like that one
Reply:The big rubber cutting edge mentioned above would work pretty good and probably be smoother over the raised manhole than a Fisher trip edge. Just did a Google image search and alot of the pictures that come up are of snow pushers like you made.Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!
Reply:They had all the power angle plows with the other type of springs in the shop, so I couldn't get any picts of those. I did manage to get a few of the angle blade with the other type of trip edge since I was there. Attached Images. No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
