Another question on welding helmets!!

Has anyone used this ESAB welding helmet. Your thoughts, likes and dislikes. Worth it or not?http://products.esabna.com/index.php...-13_helmet.pdfThanks in advance.
Reply:Never heard of this one. I can say that for my money nothing can beat my jackson NEXGEN EQC. No special outer cover plates are needed, 4 sensors, fantastic optics with a gold lense like coloring, a burning mode AND a grinding mode at the push of a button. I have used this hood heavily in field construction work on structural steel running 5/64 flux core for 10-12 hours at a wack 6-7 days a week as well as in boilers welding tube and plate. It also handles arc gouging/cutting very well. This thing is a tank and I love it.I would be very cautious of a hood that you can't get replacement parts for easily. Even something as simple as a cover lense. If you are a professional welder I woudl suggest investing in professional grade gear. If this is a hobby hood or something you will use occassionaly then it may be for you.'Mike
Reply:Thanks Mike. I am a hobby welder but don't want to cheap out too much on a helmet. They are carried at my LWS so parts should be available. It was also recommended by the guy at the LWS and they also carry miller and others.
Reply:I use the Origo Tech about 5 hours a day. You can buy any of the replacement parts online (try here) and my lws carries the inner and outer lens packs. Not all the bells and whistles as some of those others but it's been great. Good sensitivity and keeps me safe. I use it for plasma cutting, carbon gouging, and smaw and gmaw.Do what it takes to get the job done right.
