Hey Y'all,I'm wanting to build a weld test machine for practice for my D1.1 cert. I'm going to mount it on my 50T shop press. I don't know how many different types are made, but the type I've seen has a radiused end bolted on the cylinder ram, and it pushes a piece of steel cut to about 3/8" thick x 1.5" wide x around 8-9" long between 2 rollers to bend it into a "U" shape. If there are standards for this machine I haven't been able to find them.Basic frame design will be easy, as will be making the end for the ram since mine has predrilled and threaded holes there already. Here's what I'd like to know, if anyone has a bender that's easy to pull measurements from...1) What is the diameter of the end that goes on the ram? This piece would determine the inside radius of the bend. I would expect it's between 1" and 1.5".2) What are the diameter and length of the two rollers? 3) What is the space measurement between the two rollers?4) What diameter pins are the rollers rotating on?That's all, folks. Unless you think of something else that's notable. If anyone is interested, I'll take pics when it's done, but it seems simple enough that pics aren't really necessary. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Reply:Tbone see if these will help. Scanned from AWS D1.1 CEP also posted up the flat plate test parameters in another thread. I've got them on the other computer. I'll add them later. Reply:YES, thanks a lot to both of you. DSW, the type of machine I'm thinking of is the bottom-ejection type in your figure 4.17. I can't quite make out the dimensions in the chart below that figure. Any chance of getting a closer view of that section?
Reply:See if this is better. If you have a compact bender you can easily do all of this without building anything. Just use a 1 1/2" center pin to wrap the test piece around..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
