1968 red face pipeliner? why pipeliner?

Hi,   thank you all for sharing you knoledge, Im about to buy a 1968 red face don't know code or serial # will post them latter,for $1100 running good, but need idler work, it's a good price? and why they call it pipeliner? what kind of work can perform beside just weld  with this beauty....ps: what kind of work, means what is the cons, pros for this "pipeliner"                thanks
Reply:I don't know why these are called Pipe Liners. Be interesting to know the truth, probably as simple as a nick name given to them that stuck all these years. There is nothing really special about these machines unless you are an experienced enough weldor to appreciate a quality arc. I have a 64 and a 66 Red Face both are a dream to run 7018 with.
