Hey all i just received my Lincoln 180c and have just been mucking around with the flux core wire it came with. I did a practice weld on 6mm plate and the machine was set to the recommended settings at Heat 4 wire speed I. wire is 0.35 flux core.Let me know if i need to adjust my settings or technique.
Reply:That is one of the best first welds I have seen here. How did you do it with no spatter?DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The slag was cleaned of with wire cup on grinder. Thanks for the positive comments definately helps having experience with the stick. Anyway i'll keep practicing to prepare for a roll cage build for my suzuki.
Reply:From another newb, looks darn good. Turn on the 'macro' setting on your camera for any future up-close pics taken.
Reply:Will use my camera next time. i just used my camera on my phone to take the pic. Cheers
Reply:Not bad at all for a first time try. It's a pretty easy move from stick to mig isn't it. A little practice and you should be smooooooth. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Flux core does seem to have a lot less splatter... especially at lower wire speeds... Weld looks good...
Reply:Try running it uphill or overhead and you will change your mind about that, lol. Bad as 6010 in those two positions. It's pretty bad when you push it too. I go through 100 - 400lbs of it a month depending on what comes in. Seems the hotter you run it the less spatter there is.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. Reply:Jolly Roger: yea mate makes a massive difference by manipulating the puddle with a stick you gain the knowledge of how the puddle should look to give a good weld. |
