Just got started on Mig in my shop class and I love it. I got the rest of the school to burn as much wire as I want so critque my work. Here are a couple of my weld's. Advice ? Tips ? anything is greatly appreciated.
Reply:well... your welds look pretty cold because of the cold lap your welds have especially the lap weld. so just turn the heat up and practice your consistency. and watch for that porosity in your lap weld. because even if its not visually there it can be carried through out you weld.
Reply:oh and good job for it being your first few attempts keep it up =)
Reply:not bad for first welds. as stated you need more heat. Also push the gun in the direction you are welding and keep the wire on the leading edge of the puddle. keep at it and you will have it in no time.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:What they said+, it doesn't look like it's penetrated very deeply into the metal pieces. More heat will help, watch your puddle and burn it in deeper on the pieces your welding. It looks like it was nice and clean to start, that's good. Good job for your early attempts. If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:MO HEAT Otherwise it looks good for the first time.David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:I would have said they look SaWeet! But, I am still learning. Apparently they are too cold, I assume that is 1/4" steel on a 110V small machine?Good luck getting good penetration...I'm 21 and learningAvid 4wd enthusiastASE Master tech (Automotive), mechanic/fabricator by trade
