I'm welding stainless steel #3rebar to a galvanized steel structure what is the best stick welding rod to use? 309-15?
Reply:If the bar is A615, I wouldn't weld to it. If the bar is A706, E309-15 will work well. Be sure to grind the zinc off the galvanized piece where you intend to weld./Most rebar is A615 and it is generally not permissible to be welded. Check with AWS D1.6 to calculate the equivalent carbon content (requires certified material). |
