Hey guys, I've been using this old Miller dialarc for about 10 years now,and once I finally got use to its little issues and problems it has its worked great for me. This morning I went to start on a small sheet metal project and when I went to start the arc with my pedal, the solenoid didn't click, you can always here it when it does. I turned it off, pulled out the remote amperage and remote contact cables and cleaned them up, plugged them back in, still wont work. So then I turned both of them off and decided to try a scratch start which did work, but the gas coverage would never kick on. With the remote contact switch flipped to on, the gas flow is continuous even when there isn't an arc or the pedal isn't pressed down but I can't get the solenoid for the arc start to kick on and I don't get any fire. I've tried on both DC and AC high freq start and continuous with the same problem. Any ideas?
Reply:I think there is a circuit breaker for the remote control connections on the machine.   I'll go take a look at mine, I have the Dialarc HF too.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Ok there is the circuit breaker on the front panel next to the remote amp control switch.  I don't know yet exactly which circuit the breaker is protecting.   I'll see if I can find out from the manual I have for it here.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Ok the circuit breaker on the front panel next to the remote control switch is CB1 and it protects the weld output circuit.   Circuit breaker CB2 on the left side of the lower panel under the flip-up door, above the 115v aux power outlets protects the remote contactor circuit (and I assume also the aux power outlets), so if you have no power out to the foot pedal to turn on the contactor, try re-setting that breaker.  If that doesn't do the trick, maybe check the switch in the pedal.Last edited by DesertRider33; 03-10-2008 at 04:25 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Awesome, thanks a ton man I'm gonna roll over to the shop and go check that out right now.
Reply:Welp I checked it out, it wasn't the overload breaker. I took apart the foot pedal assembly and found the lever from the pedal itself to the rheostat and the switch inside the assembly had a bolt come out of it some how and when you mashed the pedal, nothin was happening. I put it back together and it works like a charm.
Reply:Glad you got it figured out and welding again!   These old machines just keep going and going and .....MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
