Reply:Buying new will insure you get what you like in the machine, rather than settleing for what someone is ready to sell. It also insures you know how the machine was treated from Day One when it is uncrated. You don't mention anything in particular what you are looking for in a welder, CC or CV or CC/CV, amps less than 200 or greater than that. Whether you want to be able to add MIG or TIG later, how important is auxiliary power, etc. Do you prefer gas or diesel, what is your budget? Fill in some or all of these blanks to get better answers from everyone that may choose to reply. What are your intentions for this machine, hobby/personal use or trying to make a living?
Reply:Not looking very hard on CL or you don't know how to search.I pulled up 2 SA-200's in central Jersey, an SA 200 in Delaware with a spare motor ( I think that  is the one listed here..  http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=78591), a Miller Bobcat in Souderton Pa, 4 miller bobcats listed on Long Island CL, 2 Bobcats on the Annapolis CL, a couple Lincoln Rangers... All in less than 5 minutes and I quit there.Try a CL aggregator like Crazedlist or Searchtempest. I used Searchtempest and put in "bobcat welder", "Ranger welder", "SA 200"... If you simply put in welder, and search the list manually, you will be able to find odd machines like AEAD's as well as older Hobarts and so on..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:dsw  i used search tempest and i saw the sa200s but i am really looking for a different machine.everything i found was already sold thats why i was wondering if you guys could think of another place to check out for them.  as for what im really looking for, i would like bigger than a 200 amp machine, preferibly a bobcat or  a ranger 8 or bigger. i definiatly want ac/dc with cc/cv capability and as for extra power id like to have a couple 120 outlets and a 50amp 220 which both these size machines should have. im not sure really what i want to do, i know i will be doing some jobs on the side but not  making a living with it. i have jobs lined up to pay off what i get, however i dont plan on a day in day out routine like i said side jobs but i want to do it right so i only have to buy one oncethanks jaymiller bobcat 250 ntsouth bend metal latheClausing verticle millrikon 17" bandsaweverlast 250exharris oxyfuel set upspeedglass AD helmet with adflo power respirator.
Reply:Check with some of your LWS. Some have rental units, that after a period of time they sell off to replace with newer models. Some may take "trade ins" that are in good condition, that you might could buy. There's also a topic on this forum for people wanting to sell used equipment. Shop,Sell,Trade Forum scroll down the homepage to find it.Last edited by Bistineau; 01-28-2012 at 11:42 AM.
Reply:hi, sounds like a 302 Miller Trailblazer might work. the new model has EFI which is a bit more dollars but naturally miller says is worth it. I got my 2009  302 with 226 hours ,50' lead, 50' ground, for $2200.00 on craigs list  . You may want to look a little out of your area for machine. there are deals buy hard to find and usually go right after listed. you can't wait days to think about it. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:When I was looking this time last year, there was a ton in North Jersey. The most popular machine on CL around here is the Bobcat 250. Since we use those at work, and Im a Lincoln man it took me a while to find my WP. It all depends on what your needs are. Funny thing is, my WP225 from 1989 smokes the new Bobcats at work. I prefer my Ol' one-lunger Briggs for pipe work any day!Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120

Reply:depends on how big a diameter innershield you want to run.   They wont push anything big enough for structurals.   They do pretty damn good pushing 0.68 NR-211 though for anything up to 3/8"Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
