Reply:Kmaysob, I have both, the welding generator appears to be the same on a 250 as an octagon 200.The 250s have an AC auxiliary generator, and field current for the main welding generator is rectified from this AC. The 200s generate "pure" DC for exciter and field currents.I can't tell any difference in welding characteristics between the two, I guess some DC purists can.Why you aks??Good Luck
Reply:ahh thank you for clarifying that. well i work on them and the vantage 300. those are the only machines we rent. i noticed no talk of the sa 250 but alot about the 200's. we also sent a bunch to auction and i was gonna post details for everyone but i wasnt sure anyone used them. btw this the part about auction is of no gain for me. if anyone would like to know where we sent them i will gladly post.denrep, thank you for the reply.Millermatic 211weldpack 3200 squirtgunsquare wave 200victory journeyman kitHypertherm 30xptoo much other crap to listtinkerer extraordinaire
Reply:A few years back(ok, 30 or so) we had one of each. The 250 was on the big trailer and got used the most just because it did have AC power. The 200 only went out when we needed more than one on a job. Which was often enough.I cant really recall any difference in how they welded, but I was just a pup then. |
