I just used what I had on hand, need the wheels since my shop is so small and will have to move it around some...thing is over 200lbs I bet.Yeah I know welds are ugly
Reply:Looks like it works but....Practice Grasshopper, PRACTICE!  I don't see any evidence of an attempt to clean the steel, and you should have been able to set that so that all those welds could have been done flat to make things easier. Don't form bad habits, get used to doing prepwork ahead of time. Good prep will help with good welds, but bad prep will only make your life harder. It only takes a minute or two to knock off the rust with a grinder. The welds look like an attempt with 6010/11 thats too cold and or run too fast.Post up rods and settings and we'll help you out..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks and I knew better...been on this site long enough180 mig with co2  set at E 4.5 wire speed  .o35 wireI know that I can do better just being lazy...guilty
Reply:Nothing wrong with showing the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.  It's how people learn. Not just you, but others that see this as well.Yeah, with mig you definately need to clean off the rust. I don't know the exact seting parameters for that machine off the top of my head. I'd say crank up the heat if posible to max, and slow way down. That steel is really way too heavy for that machine, but for what you are doing it will work fine. The heavy steel is going to suck the heat away from the weld however, so it will act like it's running cold. You need to have a lot of heat to start, and then try and stay put longer so the puddle will form and build up.Be real careful not to bump that hard. Those welds look very shaky to me. 200lbs on your foot HURTS! .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Edit: I just saw someone else post up the same lincoln settings with nice beads on 1/4" elsewhere here, but with 75/25, so the heat may be close. If so, then it's definately the rust and moving too fast causing the poor weld most likely. I'm not sure how much 100% CO2 would change the settings. Lincoln doesn't list suggested settings in the owners manual on line I looked at..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
