Welding student-- "rate MY welds"

i didnt want to hijack the other guys 'rate my welds' thread so im starting my own --i am a welding student (albeit i am 27 years old) and i have been welding about a month , 12 hours a week. stick welding , this is 6010 rod at about 100 amps, on 1/4" plate .. i hope i got these in order :the platestackedarrowside first passotherside first passarrowside 2nd passotherside 2nd passarrowside 3rd passotherside 3rd ..ok i think i got these in order .. flame away

Reply:we dont have a bending machine at class which sucks.. i could grind it down on monday and look for any porocity tho? hmm i didnt take pics of the other side.. usually it doesnt penetrate the whole way thru on the first pass so the other side would just look normal w no weld. i also have problems w the ends of my welds.. leaving a little divot in the metal .. i try to leave more filler at the end and somehow ends up gouging into the metal too much .. not sure how to correct this.also have problems w undercut sometmies and not sure how to fix that either.. barely get any facetime w the teacher at all im lucky to get 1 sentence from him a day seriously.

Reply:Good stable width on your welds. I don't think you're going to get welds like the ones in transit's book with 6010. The pic in the book looks more like 7018 to me. What size rod are you running? I think your amps may be a little bit on the high side. As for the undercut, pay attention to your rod angle. Also a little less heat might help. Just try turning it down five or ten amps and see if it runs any better.Clearer pics would help. If you're using a regular camera (not your phone) it should have a macro funtion, usually depicted by a flower. Try that and some good lighting. Better pics usually= better feedback.
