Another forum I am on has someone posting these.  They are for a Jeep Cherokee front tow point connections. Finally got my HiCountry D ring mounts this morning. Pulled them out of the box and...Thoughts........Come try it out and stay a while.

Reply:Aparently this is the way they come:http://store.hicountryoffroad.com/Je...kles_p_5.html#BUT, if you look at the product link and then the actual product that arrived, there is a serious quality difference.  I think I can even count fewer stitch welds on the bracket he got compared to the one shown online.Come try it out and stay a while.
Reply:they might hold.. then again.. they might not. looks like a sloppy fab shop $10 hour guy MIG welder did it right before his lunchbreak.
Reply:I would definitly express my displeasure and either sent them back or consider it an unfinished kit and reweld it. The extra long tack welds seem to be the only short comings otherwise they did make it fit the vehicle pretty good. Your call.
Reply:holy cow, i just looked at the link that you posted.  that big a$$ D-ring and packet full of grade 8 bolts... that piece of goodie you posted is way weak.  looks like its 1/8" and quite poorly welded.I'm not a off-roader, but by the looks of the hardware that is included in the package, the picture you posted is definitely the weakest link.Maybe you can grind and re-weld.. but then again, it looks like its pretty easy to make.  why not just make your own?  i'm sure you can do a better job
Reply:I would say the metal thickness is fine. These are made as "tie ins" They attach to the frame with bolts that are alreay there. I would say the welds are bad. Its the same with all that offroad crap. I bought a warrior shackle kit for the front of a CJ and it was just like that, weak and welded poorly. I would build your own or re-weld what you have there.
Reply:I'd just consider it a kit that is already tack welded for you and put a few nice beads of weld to it.  Probably not worth the bother of sending it back since you have the capability to make it right yourself.  Even so, I'd still probably lodge a complaint because those welds look pretty light duty.
Reply:I would put some more weld on them personally. For the price of them it would not be worth it to make new ones i would just reweld them. After the arc has died the weld remains
Reply:I would send those pictures to them and express your dissapointment, one of the most glaring things that sticks out to me is that they went through the thought to laser cut indentations so the welder can space them evenly, but they are not even filled out correctly.  I wouldnt bother sending it back however, id just add some more welds.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Honestly i think thats flat out dangerous soon as i read that it was a tow point/stress member i seen lousy fab/fit up welds full of untercut and creaters which cracks love to forum there man im lost for words i hope he has isuranceCigweld Transmig 265seBoc 140amp StickBoss 200amp AC/DC TIGLincoln Electric Invertec V260-S
