Has anyone tried using a Ove Glove for for light duty tig. I hate big bulky welding gloves but I guess you gutta take the bad with the good.
Reply:In one of my threads someone said they used it in one of their hands.I didn't like using the big gloves which are meant for stick/mig so I have tried on mechanics gloves which were nicer but the best thing to do is buy TIG welding gloves. I got a set of tillman gloves from HTP for $10 and they are super thin and great to work with. These are what I boughthttp://www.ebay.com/itm/TILLMAN-25B-...item1e6bc172d3Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:There's really not much special about the ove glove. It's a nice glove, but overpriced IMHO. You can get nomex or kevlar gloves that are just fine for your purposes for half the price.I just don't like knit gloves around metal. Every rough edge catches and pulls on the fabric. Leather doesn't have that problem. Just find a set of kidskin TIG or driving gloves. They're not bulky at all (they run even thinner than deerskin).

Reply:This is the result of Ove Gloves vs Dynasty at 150 amps AC. The Jodi's Tig finger i used next didn't even get hot.Last edited by Drf255; 03-05-2012 at 05:33 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:You can burn your fingers with any glove if you leave them in the heat zone long enough. I use the ove gloves for general Tig work, but also use Jody's Tig finger with regular thin Tig gloves when Tig welding pipe. At my age I shake more than I use to, so I have to brace my hand with one finger, Jody's Tig finger works great for this.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Nylon on your hands near heat from welding is asking for a nice set of burn scars and possible some time in the burn ward. I see guys all the time at the tech school who are cheap and wan to go this route for thin gloves. It never occurs to them that the material will melt and stick to their hands until you mention this to them.
Reply:LOL,From what I've seen here, some of our posters should wear BOXING GLOVES.Granted, they make it a little difficult to feed filler or hold a torch properly, but you don't get burned with them on.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
