Im just wondering what are some of different types of weaves in stick welding. I don't really weave when i stick weld, but i like the look of the different stitch welds. Is that made with a zig zag or an 8. Thanks
Reply:z weave or half moon weave typically for vertical stitch welds, for overhead it's better to weld in a circular pattern less undercut that way and 90 dergree straight on, to 5 degree drag to let the arc force flatten the bead out.
Reply:remember to pause at the edge to let the puddle fill and move through the center to the other edge...
Reply:in overhead find something to prop your arm against you tend to long arc if you free hand overhead this causes porosity and poor bead appearance. 6010 an 6011 is different you want to horseshoe the weave side to side then up to let the bead cool then back down and repeat this.
Reply:i only have knowledge of 3 different rods6013- just a drag rod?6010- my teacher gave me a sheet of about 9 different weaves, i lost it tho hehe, but all i can remember is crescent, half box, figure 8, and just the traditional whip motion.7018- i mostly drag this rod, but sometimes i add alittle z motion to it to widen the puddle
