Anybody made a Juliet balcony?

They're those very narrow ones that really just have room for someone to walk out a narrow door and stand there.I want to put a couple on my building. They'll be bolted to the wall.I'll get the design signed off by an engineer, but I'm wanting to something interesting looking. I'm negotiating with my wife to just have a railing and glass screen across the openings i.e. dispense with the balconies, but I'm not having much luck. Reply:Those pickets came from King Archetectural Metals in Dallas, Texas. They are tube so don't add a lot of weigt to the balcony. I don't know what code is there but I had to make sure there was no more than 4" gap at the corners. It wasn't very hard to build and two men put it up on scaffolding.

Reply:Handy to keep from having to let your dog out at night or in the daytime too for that matter. I was in the French Quarter in New Orleans one time and saw this yellow stream start running off a balcony and on to the sidewalk. Sure enough there was the dog at the start of the stream. Glad I was out in the street. I guess I don't have much imagination. I can't see much use for a door on the second floor that is fenced off so you can't go anywhere when you step out the door. Reply:Those second two look like they are only attached to the siding of the home, may be wrong but if they are , not sure I would step out on them.  code here says balconies must have joists that extend into the structure twice as far as they extend out.BTS Welding

Reply:I wonder it there is a distinction between window guards and balcony.  I completed and installed 5 last balcony/window guards week on a house.  The landing was only extends 9 inch from the house.  The client could comfortably lean on them from the door.
