So I have a roll cage for my Samurai that is a pre-bent weld in cage.  I'd like to do the fitting myself and then remove the cage and have it finish welded by a pro.  My Lincoln 140 can of course be swapped over to a standard MIG set up, but all I do with it now is flux core. My basic question is if I fit and tack up the cage using flux core will that botch things up for the finish welds if they are using a different process (either MIG or TIG)?Those that say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" just don't understand!Fast-Cheap-Reliable:  Pick two.
Reply:The flux will make it really bad for tig and a pia although not as bad for the mig. Use hard wire if you have the setup.....Mike
Reply:Tig tacks are the best, Mig are second best and Fluxcore (or stick) I grind right off if I have to tig the part.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I guess I'll finally have to just get a bottle and set the machine up for MIG.  Thanks for your help. Those that say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" just don't understand!Fast-Cheap-Reliable:  Pick two.
Reply:Well, just bought a tank of Argon/CO2.  I own the tank, and it did hurt a little bit   They are more expensive than I thought.  Looking forward to not cleaning so much splatter though! Those that say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" just don't understand!Fast-Cheap-Reliable:  Pick two.

Reply:Ditto to above.  Yer gonna love it!David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Mmmmm yes, it is better!  Played a bit today, and wish I didn't wait so long to switch.Flux will still be around for when I need to burn through some more serious metal.  I'm only using a Lincoln 140, so MIG cuts my capacity a bit.  I have plenty of sheet metal work in my future, so the gas is certainly needed. Those that say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" just don't understand!Fast-Cheap-Reliable:  Pick two.
