Here is a brief walk through of a trailing arm build I recently finished for a long travel side by side I am building:First a jig was needed to establish wheelbase, tow and camber:the microstub bolted to the jig:...some may note that the micrstub is assembled backwards.   This is for the purpose of clearing the jig.  The rotor is really just serving as a straight edge here. Now, a rough tube mock up is tacked in place to set all the perameters mentioned above and the remainder of the jig is constructed:continued...
Reply:Now the tubing used for mock up is removed and cardboard templates are cut out making sure to follow the guidelines established by the temporary tubes as they relate to tire clearance etc..sorry no pics of the cardboard but.... the cardboard turned DXF, turned .100 4130 water cut parts Each piece was born of a cardboard template then transfered to coordinates to be watercut. Some guys would just draw the whole assembly in CAD and go from there, but I am not that  savvy and stick to my "oldish school" ways.  I did cheat and use a watercut though. Now for a little fit up.  The arms are composed of mulitple parts and the arms will be TIG welded so a clean inside corner to inside corner is criticalcontinued..
Reply:This is a welding forum, sooo on to some welding.inner portions of the arms were MIG welded as seen in the last photo.  Mainly for speed and convenience.  Everything else was TIG'dsome inner "baffles" to stiffen the box structureArm all boxed up ready to weld:some(edit) ............LOTS of welding.one more.....
Reply:All done!:Just one more arm to go. ... um another 8 hours??Now for the pivot anchors:All done: Attached Images

Reply:Nice job.  I modified some arms similar to those that were for a sand rail a while back.  They were very expensive custom parts.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Awesome, keep those pics comgin of the build. Very interesting.
