Strut compressor quick and dirty

I while back I needed a strut compressor. Originally I borrowed some screw style compressors but they were too large for my little vw springs. I must have spent at least an hour fighting the dumb things before I decided to try something else. After some thought and some scrounging around the shop this is what I came up with. It mounts in the tail stock of the old lathe. The wrench was made by cutting down a socket. It only takes a couple minutes to dis-assemble and re-assembly a strut. Since whipping this gadget out I have used it 5 or 6 times to do various cars on my fleet of old vw golfs and rabbits. I was amazed how easy it was. Attached Images
